City of Poughkeepsie Bus Service

Several bus routes travel throughout the City of Poughkeepsie (what we call "downtown"), and into the Town of Poughkeepsie where Vassar is located. The "Shopper's Special" stops directly at the campus bus shelter Monday-Friday, and the "Main Street" stops on Raymond Avenue across across from campus Monday-Saturday. Show your Vassar ID and ride free on the "Shopper's Special" and "Main Street".

VSA Saturday Shuttle Bus

Many Saturdays while school is in session (9/8-12/8 for the fall semester, and 1/26-4/27 for the spring semester) this hourly bus leaves campus for stops downtown (near the Walkway Over the Hudson and the train station), and at the Poughkeepsie Galleria Mall, a Barnes & Noble bookstore-cafe, and a Stop & Shop grocery. Look for the white Leprechaun Lines bus at the shelter by Jewett House.

Semester Break Airport Shuttle Buses

These bus rides to two New York City airports (JFK and LaGuardia) are up to 3 hours. To take advantage of this low cost transportation ($40 per student), Campus Safety & Security suggests that you schedule flights to leave in the afternoon or early evening. By comparison taking the train to New York City and then getting an airport limousine, bus, or cab to an airport could cost $50 to $75 dollars, and take 4 to 5 hours.
